Accessing items

In the manual, it says:

If Mario picks up an item
when he’s powered up
( Page 22), the item goes
into your reserve spot on
the Touch Screen. To use
the item, simply tap it to
make it drop onto
the action screen.

For those of you who played this, can I press [select] to access the item in the level?

I set up a sony PS5 controller to use and configured it correctly. Can I use a mouse or joystick to move the stylus?

@bio_hazard1282 The PS5 controller has a touchpad right? If so you should be able to use that to emulate the stylus.
