Hello everyone. New to the forums, not COMPLETELY new to Retropie or MAME. I'm setting up a 2 player cab for a friend using an 8gb Pi4 (I know, overkill) and a couple generic zero delay encoders for the arcade buttons and joysticks. Each player has 7 buttons, coin, & start button (9 for each player).

I got ES to recognise each encoder and was able to set up each button for both just fine. The problem comes up in MAME. During input layout (global) the P2 config refuses to see anything past BUTTON 4. This only occurs on the P2 layout. P1 I was able to input all the buttons (through Button 7). See pics.

Initially the issue was happening with P1 as well. I was able to fix it by wiping all Input setting from ES and starting over from scratch. This allowed MAME to see the buttons 5-7. However, the problem still persists with P2 inputs in MAME. I don't believe it's an issue with the encoder as I was able to set P2 up in both ES and Retroarch and have them register all 7 button inputs. Any ideas would be appreciated. Oh, I'm using the stock (default) mame emulator that installs with Retropie, Libretro I think.

Specifically L, R and L2 aren't registering on the player 2 MAME setup.
