Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Developer(s): Neversoft
Genre(s): Skateboarding
Platform(s): PS1
No. of Players: 1 - 2
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 was released in September of 2000. It is the sequel to the widely acclaimed Pro Skater. THPS 2 is considered the best Tony Hawk game overall, and one of the best skateboarding games period.
You can take your pick of the who's who of 1990's era skateboarders. Including the game's namesake, Geoff Rowley, Bob Burnsquist, Eric Coston, and others.
You skate around 8 different levels, completing several different objectives in each to get enough money to unlock the next level. Spliced in between the normal levels are competitions that you must place in the top three to get a medal that will unlock a new level.
This game controls very well. Each of the PS1's face buttons is assigned to a trick. Triangle is grind on a rail, Circle is Grab the board, X is ollie, and Square is Flip. You use the D-Pad to move around, as well as being used as a modifier for the trick buttons.
A main mechanic is chains. Performing several tricks while all four wheels are off the ground. You can use grinds and manuals to chain these tricks together. These chains are high risk-high reward. You can stand to get a few hundred thousand points on a chain, or you can bail and lose it all.
This game has, in my opinion, the best licensed soundtrack of any game. Consisting of songs from the 90's from various genres: Rock, Hiphop, Rap, etc. This is one game where the louder the music, the better.
So grab your board and your mixtapes and lets skate on.

How in the hell do I play the game?
This is the first PS1 game to be featured as a GOTM. Though this one isn't as complicated to emulate as last months. The best emulator to use is PCSX-reARMed. It runs the game at a smooth 60fps. The game does look better in enhanced resolution mode, so use it.
Game of the Month Challenge
I'm going to break my rule for this month and issue an optional challenge. You don't have to do this, but it's here if anyone wants it.
Get a gold medal in every competition. Which means getting the highest score against all the computer players.
Have fun, and don't take any crap from anybody!

This game was a revolution in a lot of ways for me. Not only was I skateboarding at the time, but I had a musical revelation the moment the game booted up on my Dreamcast.
Good pick and a fun game! Runs okayyyyyy on Reicast with minor slowdowns on some of the bigger levels like NYC and beyond (so like the 3rd level), but I can't play it any other way! Slowdowns on this game make it difficult. Haha. Got that gold in Philadelphia though!

@hooperre Play the PS1 version, not sure why you are playing the Dreamcast version.
The soundtrack is one of my favorites. And that style of music is far from my favorite, I prefer Classic/Heartland Rock.
But regardless, the soundtrack is an absolute banger. My favorite track is: Bad Religion - You
When that track plays, that means shit gets real.

For the GOTM, I decided to 100% the career mode with Tony Hawk

I was playing the DC version because it's what I grew up with and it is hard for me to play it on PS1 instead. I was just sharing my experience using Reicast to play it. PS1 version is significantly more stable.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
If you don't know what thanksgiving is, it is where we stuff our fat faces with as much food as we can stomach. And being thankful for what we have.
Then tomorrow, people forget that to go beat the crap out of each other to save a few bucks on TV's

But some how Here it does not work. Does anyone have the same expeience? Or a solution?

@snydea Please don't bump old topics - if you have an issue/question, open a new topic for it, adding some information about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

FYI: the revert-plus option to combine tricks was a new feature introduced in THPS3. You can only combine tricks with manuals in THPS2.
