I'd assume by now this issue has been reported, and a solution has bound to have come up. But I can't quite find the exact solution on Google. I recently found that using the "Save Config on Exit" option is not a great idea, and causes issues when needing to use custom cfg files for certain games. But I'm now seeing why I had it on in the first place.

After a fresh Retropie 4 upgrade, I started re-doing each setting one at a time. Only now, I'm manually using the "Save Current Configuration" option each time. But when I get to the part where I apply a crt-shader preset, it does not save. It always drops this setting, even when I manually save or apply it. Worse than that, for some reason, it resets my custom resolution/aspect values I set in the scaling menu as well.

    Any idea what's causing this?

@alphabetapie Adding the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first might help people answer the question. And sometimes the messages in the verbose log are understandable enough to be helpful by themselves :D
