      Hi,

Quick challenge or question for you this morning. I would like to find and compile which games from the 2nd generation systems (Atari 2600, Intellivision, ColecoVision, etc.) have an end or ending. For example, I consider Venture on ColecoVision with an end.

Same question for the LCD platforms and pocket arcades. For example, Zelda on Game and Watch has an end.

      Updated list:

      ColecoVision
      Alcazar: The Forgotten Fortress
      Boulder Dash
      Pitfall II: Lost Caverns
Smurf Rescue in Gargamel's Castle (but restart in loop with different challenges )
      Venture

      Atari 2600
      Adventure
      Enduro
      E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
      Pitfall!
      Pitfall II: Lost Caverns
      Raiders of Lost ark
      Riddle of the Sphinx
Smurf Rescue in Gargamel's Castle (but restart in loop with different challenges )
      Star Raiders
      Superman
SwordQuest : Airworld (never released )
      SwordQuest : Earthworld
      SwordQuest : Fireworld
      SwordQuest : Waterworld
      Venture

      Game & Watch
      Zelda

@dteam I don't know that era very well but I know for the Colecovision Smurf Rescue in Gargamel's Castle which I was recommended by an older colleague. That definitely has an end.

I was about to add ET to my reply. It does have an end.

@dteam There's a fix of the ET game out there, I've not played it but apparently it sorts the horrible hitbox detection that ruins the game.

@retropieuser555 is that the one with the "special" ending I heard about?

@quicksilver errrm I don't think so, I've got it downloaded but not played it. Here's the project which outlines the corrections and adjustments they made

                        On 2600 lots do:

The original Pitfall! also ends, when you get every treasure.
Enduro is a racing game that has an ending.
Riddle of the Sphinx is an adventure game.
                        Superman can be beaten.
I haven't played them, but the SwordQuest games are all adventures, right?
You can beat Star Raiders as well.

I didn't know that. Thanks for another peace of useless information in my nerdmind!

At first I read "eaten". Time to go to bed.

@retropieuser555 maybe it was a different smurf game then. I remember reading about weird things developers hide in video games and one of them was an ending involving a nude smurfette or something weird like that.

@quicksilver ohhh sorry I thought you meant E.T. game. I had no idea but I just googled and yes apparently there is some bizarre glitch in the game:-

That is seriously weird. Wonder how someone found it ha!

Do old computer games like the original Ultima and Wizardry count?

Why not. Must be like 2 generation systems games.

@dteam If you start including computer platforms, you will have THOUSANDS on your list. Every single adventure game, RPG game, etc. I would stick to consoles :)

It was an innovation when Adventure had an ending on the 2600. But by then, computer games had had the sort of endings you are looking for since Colossal Cave Adventure in 1975.

Good point, I agree with you, we will stay with consoles. That was the first idea behind that survey/challenge.
