hiscore.dat Mame 78

Hello, anyone have a source or a link to hiscore.dat for Mame 78 (lr-mame2003)?

i used this one: http://www.mameworld.info/highscore/index.htm

you need to put it in roms/arcade/mame2003/hsdb
(arcade might be mame-libretro if that's where you keep your roms)

i am not sure how to check if it is 'working', though. eg, toki is saving hiscores, and there's some sort of entry for toki games in hiscore.dat, so i guess it's working?

Hi! I am trying to get hiscore.dat to work with Lr-mame2003 and I came across your old post. The new hiscore.dat file out there via the wiki doesn't seem to be working for me.

Did you ever get the new hiscore.dat working?
If you used an old one can you send me the link to it?
Where folder did you put the hiscore.dat

it's working for me with the file and location as specified in https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-mame2003#high-scores

can you give an example of a game that isn't working for you? then i can test at my end.

I played Galaga last night with my brother and the high score did not save. I will have to check the exact rom name when I get home.

If your galaga works, what is your Galaga rom version/name? That way I can eliminate the possible causes.

yep, works for me. i have a high score posted in that (23460... rubbish!). i have galaga.zip (the parent). make sure you're running mame2003, you have the right hiscore.dat (see the link for specific details about the correct one in the .zip that you need to use), in the right place, and that you have a galaga.hi file created as per the link.

Okay. Let me make sure I have the right parent rom. Also, I am using Lr-Mame2003 because I am utilizing bezel overlays and shaders. Will this still work?

Okay. I just did a test and it still didn't work. Here is what I did.

Downloaded the top availble hiscore.dat file here: ~http://highscore.mameworld.info/download.htm
Placed the hiscore.dat file here: /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/mame2003
Reset Raspberry Pi
Started Lr-Mame2003
Started Galaga (NAMCO REV.B) which has the galaga.zip file name
Made a new high score
Exited the game
When I went to play Galaga again, the score had reset and my high score was gone.

Did I miss a step or do something wrong?

yeah.. that's the wrong .dat. you want this one:
"Click To download the old format hiscore.dat (pre mame v0174)"

i guess they changed the website since i did the guide, but mame2003 is v078, so you want the older one. i'll update the guide now

I actually had a gut feeling about that and tried it last night. I just saw your post and you were absolutely right. I downloaded the older version and now it works.
