Imortance of good roms
-
A lot of problems encountered with emulation is due to poor or incorrect roms, but discussions of where to get roms are not allowed here. What about a place where we can freely discuss roms without censorship of any kind.
A Decentralized Free and Open Source (FOSS) would work
https://itsfoss.com/mainstream-social-media-alternaives/Since Reddit is trash what about using Aether
And no to Discord since corporations are the ones ruining things. -
They exist. But we don't talk about the places to talk about places to get roms, any more than we talk about the places to get the roms that the places that talk about the places to get the roms talk about. *deep breath*
This isn't due to some holier-than-thou crusade against file-sharing; rather, it's an effort to keep the project separate and distanced from the piracy. As long as the project remains a generic "hardware emulator" that the user can do "whatever they want" with, it's relatively safe. When the official website starts disseminating unlicensed copyrighted works, the whole project risks getting shut down.
That's how I understand it, anyway.
They don't talk about where to pirate TV shows on official BitTorrent forums, either.
Use Google.
-
I see, that does make sense, especially when it comes to Nintendo.
People love to say use Google but google should not be used, they do censor their search engine. Instead DuckDuckGo is the one they should recommend.
-
I mean, it's not hard. For most console games, Google "(game name) rom download," make sure it's a [!] version, and there you go. For mame or final burn neo, search the romset
at some site
. -
@dodonpachi No rom sites linking, please.
-
@emulatre71 I prefer Startpage to DuckDuckGo, because it's based in Europe and thus, not subject to the CLOUD Act which forces online services to share data with the US authorities.
As for open social networks, many technophile people I know are using Mastodon which is also part of the Fediverse, a federated network of social networks.
-
See that is exactly what I was talking about. Poor @dodonpachi didn't even link the site all he did was mention the name.
-
@emulatre71 Providing detailed instructions on the site and how to download is the same. You might not agree on the semantics, but it's still against the rom sharing rule. Btw, the ban is temporary.
-
I am using redump.org site, to validate, that my roms are the good one. But it doesn't have all the systems.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
