      @folly yes, but my compilation only works in Retropie compiled inside pi os.
      When i flash retropie in a pendrive , found problems! Then today i found this post and your script plus adding a folder "supermodel" to art. , and stretch the image without sacrifice performance, all can do the same with -res=x,y but if someone have a 1080p or 4k tv, they will shout that the emulator doesnt work, when actually works really fine. But respecting the mechafatnick stock resolution. I made 20 videos gameplay with software recording. And the games run better than those records 😋.

      Thanks for sharing !

            Well, @4RetroPieTFT does not touch the resolutions and still runs games ok (well the ok-ish games).

            What is your experience with the other games he mentioned ?
            Do the also run slow ?

            I try all and fix someone and re update fixed to archive org. Emergency Call Ambulance (Menu works smooth but when came the game go so sloooooowly) Harley Davidson the same problem. Starwars cant play, dont know which test mode menu have to deactivate for start the game 😋, scud race works 1 ok the other laggy, for jump the net error just enter test mode with 6, navigate to game assigments with 6 and change id link from master to single, exit. Enjoy, maybe now i set keys for save and load can jump that 🤔😋. Virtua fighter are playable, l.a machines need to configure mouse to turn around, in your supermodel.ini the mouse dont fire, in the version compiled in pi os yes(but not move) , skichimp works good, magical too, jurasic park perfect and work the mouse 🤷‍♂️, battle of the edge punch and kick fine , lemans 24 very cool, fighting vipers ok, dirt devils too after fix it, get bass i cant fishing nothing but works, spikeout 1 work the other laggy a lot, ocean hunter kill sharks fine, virtual on have problem graphic but when came start works great, v fighter and v striker totally playable.
            You rocks guys, hope soon, retropie let introduce the emulator 🙏🙏🙏

              @4retropietft

              Thank you

              Ive tried every resolution there now. its slow like before. 800x600, 720x480, 640x480

              They don't make a difference. It didn't speed up at all.

              For supermodel in Pi 4 2gb, i dont touch that option still, some games run fast like lemans, sega rally 2, daytona, and some games like harley davidson are not playable yet. For stretch thd image you can add -fullscreen -wide-screen -wide-bg before %ROM% in emulators.cfg, you can edit. Just press Start, Quit, Quit emulationstation, the write with a keyboard:

              sudo nano /opt/retropie/configs/supermodel/emulators.cfg

              Changes one or the 3 options from this:

              Supermodel-mechafatnick-496x384 = "XINIT:pushd /opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick;./supermodel -res=496,384 %ROM%"

              To this:

              Supermodel-mechafatnick-496x384 = "XINIT:pushd /opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick;./supermodel -res=496,384 -fullscreen -wide-screen -wide-bg %ROM%"

              I just put one like example, you can see the other in the tutorial i comment a few comments above.

              Save the file with Ctrl+o (vowel o) then Enter and finally Ctrl+x to exit from nano editor.
              Then type reboot for reload with the new changes, or just type emulationstation for start the interface.
              Sorry for my English.

              In the Folly compilation that works! You cant add -fullscreen -wide-screen -wide-bg options, dont know why 🤷‍♂️ in retropie inside pi os yes!!! With the same compilation 🤷‍♂️

                @4RetroPieTFT Excellent! I'm glad you're getting use out of it. It might be worth trying a different version of S Wars because i just remember going straight into the game. Maybe one that needs an nvram @Folly! Sorry - I play my light gun games with an analogue stick so i didn't even think of the mouse controls :)

                @phialek is your Pi4 stock overclocked? (mine is lightly OC'ed) It sounds to me like maybe Supermodel is rendering in a higher resolution than it should. 496 x 384 was the Model 3's native res, so if you're RENDERING in 800 x 600 rather than just stretching to fill the space I'd expect you to see the level of slow down it sounds like you're experiencing.

                  @mechafatnick

                  Perhaps we have to make fresh thread.
                  So we we have control over the first post with :

                  • an install tutorial
                  • a summarize of discoveries
                  • a game compatibility list (so we can work on improving games one by one)

                  etc

                      Ok lets do that.

                      I am going to think about this idea for a while.
                      When I am ready I will inform you.

                      Btw.
                      I restored the old lines in the latest version for compatibility.
                      I left the auto resolution part in as a TEST line for later testing.

                        My pi is overclocked but i have tried it without the overclock as well. It was even slower.

                        800x600 was just a test out of desperation. At 384 with the lowest resolution of 480p with and without overclock its running at less than 20% speed.

                        By the way i have never streched the picture. So I'm looking at a tiny window which runs slow :) 😃

                          @mechafatnick thanks i will search in data sites for the correct rom. I share a gameplay in a group and one without see it or read the title, just say "is not supported in raspberry pi" 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣 . So today, i discovered that i have a PC with the form of a pi 4b and with the exact form and size, peripherals 🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♂️ . Thanks again for your work.

                            @phialek This is quite a conundrum! The only other thing I can think of is the 3d engine. The emulator needs to have the legacy 3d engine switched on - the pi doesn't have enough grunt to run the current one.

                            Can you paste up the contents of your supermodel.ini file?

                            @4RetroPieTFT ahh yes, I love those groups and their experts 😂

                                I don't suppose you remember installing anything that would intefere with the standard X Server?

                                  I don't know what a standard x server is. :))

                                  I really think the problem is in those lines

                                    Can you do commands in the terminal ?
                                    Can you post the output of "xrandr" ?
                                    Perhaps there is a lead, in there.
                                    Just type "xrandr" like this :

                                      The outcome is quite funny:

                                      Can't open display

                                      That's all what the terminal is giving me back.

                                        Oh yea sorry, I forgot, you can't run xrandr without X-windows/xinit.
                                        As you do not have a desktop environment.
                                        So in this state, this output is ok.

                                        We have to do it a bit different.
                                        Can you add a line in /opt/retropie/configs/supermodel/emulators.cfg :

                                        xrandr = "XINIT:xrandr"

                                        And when you boot a rom select this line at launch.

                                        Now the output of xrandr will show in :
                                        /dev/shm/runcommand.log

                                            @phialek

                                            Thanks.

                                            There are a few things I see.
                                            xrandr only sees 1 resolution.
                                            And I don't have this :
                                            SDL_VIDEO_KMSDRM_CRTCID=87 SDL_VIDEO_KMSDRM_MODEID=37

                                            Well, I have to think about that.
                                            Not really sure where to look.
                                            I think I will hook up a TV and see what my output is.

                                            I will look at it tomorrow again and it can take a while before I respond to it.
