@agent-blade Use the autostart settings to start EmulationStation on boot, outside of the desktop environment.
-

What Raspbian/RPI OS version do you have installed ? Did you allocate enough GPU memory in
config.txt
, as explained on the install page ? Can you post yourconfig.txt
here in the topic ? -

@davmel The video you followed is wrong - running RetroPie from the desktop session is not supported. Please install using the image from retropie.org.uk/download or follow my advice from above.
-
@mitu thanks for the quick reply!
To be honest, I don’t understand your advise…
May you elaborate this approach?

@davmel In the configuration for
autostart
, choose the 'boot to EmulationStation' option so that your system starts EmulationStation automatically, instead of the desktop environment - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#how-do-i-boot-to-the-desktop-or-kodi. -
@mitu but then I’m not able to use the raspberry as a desktop computer anymore, right? Is there no way to have access to both?
-
@davmel You can start the desktop from EmulationStation if you wish - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#where-did-the-desktop-go.
-
@mitu thank you, that works fine!
