Old Nintendo arcade games stuck on cocktail mode (mame2003-plus) [SOLVED]
-
I found two old games that display the player 2 screen upside down in mame2003-plus, like they're stuck in cocktail mode. There is no dipswitch setting for the cab type. However, both games have a few 'unused' dipswitches in the TAB menu.
The games in question are Space Fever High Splitter (
highsplt
) and Space Launcher (spacelnc
), both from 1979. I haven't tested any others, so there might be more games affected. Is there a way to disable cocktail mode for two player games in these?
-
@weirdh looking at the drivers, it doesn't appear to have a way to change this. I'm not sure if this was an oversight or perhaps with the rarity of these games, an upright version may not have been dumped.

@WeirdH ok so I have added a hacked dip switch option for these games. Install mame2003-plus from source for the update. ๐

@mahoneyt944 Awesome, thanks! Will test this weekend.
-
@mahoneyt944 Very cool, it works a treat. Had to reassign some button mappings in
highsplt
, but that's no hassle at all. Thanks again. -
@weirdh I know you solved your issue for an upright cabinet, but you could always build a cocktail cabinet. XD I love mine. You might want to put "solved" in the thread title for future readers searching for answers.

Glad it's working ๐

I would love a cocktail cab, but unfortunately there is no room to adequately put one in this microscopic shack of a house...

I tried, but the page errored out on me. I believe it's changed now, though.
-
@weirdh I have to admit mine is a "custom cocktail cabinet". It's much shallower and I put it on a table for height.
-
@iandaemon My current cab is also of the custom variety. A bartop on a pedestal that I could squeeze in a corner, but nowhere near a full size machine.
