Did a new install of RetroPie to current version 4.7.19

My lr-atari800 will not load at all.
I can't load any atari 5200 or atari 800 games.

When I try to load a game with lr-atari800 it just goes back to emulation station without loading a game.

      When I go to:
      /dev/shm/runcommand.log

      Parameters:
      Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-atari800/atari800_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/atari5200/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/atari5200/Asteroids (USA) (Proto).a52" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg

      I /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1304: 1284 Segmentation fault

      When I go to
      /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh
      and look at line 1304:

      eval $COMMAND </dev/tty &>>"$LOG"

      Any ideas please?
All I want is lr-atari800 to work to play Atari 5200/800 games. That's really all I play.

Do you have the necessary BIOS files, as listed in the Docs ?

@a1eg once you have the correct BIOS files in place and the emulator(s) working. I highly suggest taking some time to go through this build setup for lr-atari800/5200.

Without it, your systems will work, but look nothing like they should, especially the a800 side.

I just wanted to update in case anyone in the future has this problem.

This is a know issue with lr-atari800 since atleast RetroPie 4.5.9
lr-atari800 won't start, instead when you select a game to play, lr-atari800 appears to load properly, then all the sudden exits back to EmulationStation.

There is a way to get it to work. But you have to do this every time you want to play a game:

After you click on a game to play press F1 continuously until you get to the Atari 800 menu. From there you can load the game you want to play.
Timing is critical, you have to press F1 at the right time.
Trial and error until you find the right spot/time to press F1.

I just continuously and quickly pressed F1 over and over again until I finally got to the Atari800 menu.

            Good luck.
This is just to let anyone in the future know this issue exists and is know.

Credit to the person who said keep pressing F1

You're referencing an almost 2 years post which no longer applies today. RetroArch's current version in RetroPie is 1.9.7, which doesn't have the bug from the version reported by the poster (on version 1.7.2.2).

@a1eg so are you saying you still did not get this to work?

What BIOS files do you have...where did you put them? Are they zipped, or unzipped. What did you name them.

Lr-Atari800 works fine when you have everything set up. I've been using it for over a year and its one of my favorite choices.

                You're doing something wrong.
