      Hello,

      is it possible to use netplay with mupen64plus-auto emulator? or only with lr-mupenplus64?
      When I press the Button a in the runcommand I can´t see anything with Netplay, when I used the mupen64plus-auto emulator, but when I used the lr-mupenplus64, I can see "Launch with netplay enabled", can anyone help me? Or explain why it is?

      Sorry for my bad english... I hope you an understand me.

      Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 3
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.3.8
      Controller used: PS4 Controller (bluetooth)
      Emulator: mupen64plus-auto

      Greetings

        Netplay is a RetroArch feature and only lr- cores use RetroArch.

        Therefore, lr-Mupen64plus or lr-picodrive would allow for Netplay, but Mupen64Plus-Auto, Mupen64Plus-GLideN64, or Picodrive all would not.

          Also the lr- N64 emus mostly run like poop, so I would look at playing netplay with different consoles

            Hello,

            thanks for your answers, I thought so.
            @madmodder123 yes, I think so, too. That the lr-mupen64plus is verry poor.
            When I open an game with mupen64plus-auto the graphic is verry better as with the lr-mupen64plus. So is their a feature to change this graphic?
            What do you mean with "so I would look at playing netplay with different consoles".

            Greetings

              @kais I think he/she's saying I wouldn't look at a Raspberry Pi for Netplay.

              The lr-mupen64plus core hasn't been updated in about a year. Mupen64plus-auto (typically uses mupen64plus-GLideN64) is updated regularly.

                @hooperre @KaiS

                What I am saying is look at other consoles within retropie if you want to play NETPLAY 8-bit and 16-bit games should work great on a Pi 3, Playstation might work, but I am unsure how memory intensive online play would be on top of emulating the PS1. If you really want to play PS1 over netplay you might need to overclock if using netplay on PS1 with stock settings has issues.

                  Thanks for your answers.
                  So I am using the Mupen64plus-auto without Netplay.
                  Netplay would be a nice feature, but it does not have to be.

                    @madmodder123 Cheers. Have you used Netplay outside of a LAN type situation? I've heard it's optimized for LAN use and doesn't work well over the interwebs.

                      @kais I finally manage to play reliable n64 netplay the way you have just described using Parsec + Retrobat (which is Recalbox running on windows) You just need to create a parsec account, and install retrobat on the windows computer that is going to be the Host, and then connect the other devices that could be using either, linux, Android, Windows, raspberry, or whatever to the host using parsec as well. This was a really game changer.

                        I played some Metal Slug on my RetroPie arcade cabinet (3B+) through Retroarch's Netplay. I was in the U.S. and he was in the U.K. playing on a hacked Switch console.

                        We had to make sure we both had the same Retroarch version, emulator (LR-MAME2003), and ROM. It may not work flawlessly over the Internet, but it seemed to work fine (given the situation). We ended up beating Metal Slug with a lot of virtual quarters. I think there may be some input lag depending on emulation demand.
