How did you update the kernel ? Removing the overclock can be done just for testing, to confirm if there's an issue with the recent kernel.

i try with no sound, with omx enable or disable, play with the vram to 80 or 100 or 120, every time in some random time it freeze.

@kounabi22 The update procedure is ok.
Looking at the menu screen, the version of RetroPie that is reported doesn't seem aligned with your signature. RetroPie version 4.3.8 doesn't even support the Pi4. How did you install RetroPie ?

this pic is from the internet i just use to to see how i update it.
i have lower the overclock to 2.000 from 2200 but still the freeze happend at random.
i will try to remove it and see if it happend again because of overclock.

Overclock Settings: CPU 2000, GPU 600.

@kounabi22 Rule of thumb: Always disable tweaks like overclocking when diagnosing problems, as they are the usual suspects.

Regarding screenshots, there's a command line tool called raspi2png. See here about how to install and use it. You'll need an ssh connection to the Pi, though.

i have somehow fix the freeze but now there is no sound in screesaver videos and video previews ,if i switch to omx player then sound is back on both problems but video resolution is not correct.

@kounabi22 How exactly did you fix the issue ?
As for the sound problem, what are your audio settings in EmulationStation - what device/card did you set there ?

Post a screenshot of your ES Audio settings. You didn't specified how you fixed your other issue, that might affect your config and cause your current problem.

And even if it doesn't, the solution might help others with a similar problem. 👍

From which one? (that might've caused the problem, so it may be good to check it for errors.)

That's just a workaround, you probably have too little memory allocated to the GPU - either in config.txt or in EmulationStation (or both).

As for the audio settings, you should probably have change:

                                  • Audio card should be set to 'Default'
                                  • Audio device should be set to 'HDMI'
                                  • OMX Player Audio device should be fine as it is, or you can set it to Alsa.

i try audio card default but i get no sound with audio device "hdmi" only "master" option works.
