When I go to "Resolution" in the "Display" menu in raspi-config then it just immediately quits and goes back to the "Display" menu.

This is a fresh install of RetroPie on the Raspberry PI 400 on which I ran all the updates yesterday.

My reason for trying to go to this menu: I want it to only show 1080p maximum for two reasons: 1. this thing really isn't powerful enough for 4K gaming and 2. going higher than 1080p makes the text in text mode way too small for me to read.

If I need to gather logs or whatever to find out why this is happening, let me know how to capture them. I can get in with SSH.

There's an issue with the text mode menus (not only for RetroPie's) when using a 4k video mode. Configure a 1080p mode directly in config.txt - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Pi4/#issues-using-a-4k-tv.

Thanks! That answers my immediate problem with setting the resolution.

However, if this is a known issue then there should at least be some proper error message displayed, right? Kicking the user back to the earlier menu without explanation seems like undesirable behavior for the software.

Oh! OK so I should report this to Raspberry PI OS then, right?

@benmclean I just checked. There's an issue open for this here: https://github.com/RPi-Distro/raspi-config/issues/155

Shoot, I did not find that despite searching. I'll close mine! Thanks!
