Securing a case in place

You can use a small piece of double side tape.

Would like to avoid tapes and glues, or anything that might leave residues.
IMO hot glue does not leave residues, but double side tape will (if it is a good tape :) )

@addison Yeah, just saw they are 1 inch. That's not really what I meant either. I didn't search well enough. I was thinking of something like this.
Not sure on these.
Was hoping for something highly stable.
Isn't there some kind of air suction thingies that can be attached?
I can't remember what they are called.
-
@addison These are still not for firmly fixating a device to a surface indeed, it's more of a not-sliding-around thingy. I don't know of suction cups as appliance feet, but it sounds plausible... You could also use something like stick-on velcro, but that of course still uses glue for adhesion.
I also have some devices on acoustifeet. These are actually meant for reducing transferred resonance from pc's, consoles and such, but they are fairly stiff as far as sliding around goes. Still not fixating, though.

@weirdh Double sided suction cups are a thing.

Isn't there some type of suction cup with a vacuum seal?
I remember seeing something like this on an as seen on tv advertisement.
Can't seem to find it on Amazon though.

Get some kitchen shelf liner.

@thorr69 Why not get some command strips and then velcro it to a surface that you would like. You could use command strips to even mount the pi vertically somewhere, as the pi isn't super heavy. I used to do this at my desk for a powered usb 3 hub that was mounted on the side of it, so it looked clean and out of the way. There's no reason why you couldn't do this with a pi, and you'll have the added benefit of being able to take it off and put it back on whenever you need.
-
@brandflake11 It's not me who needs this. But, why would you use anything adhesive on something like a coffee table where it will be seen all the time? The OP indicates this is visible furniture. I use command/velcro iptions under my desk, myself.
-
@thorr69 I did say you could mount it vertically on the side of the table where it's not visible. But hey, you don't have to do it if you don't want to.
