@mahcneto for me everytime i update the pi i have to give permissions to my roms folders and config folders. Try doing a save state and see if it fails. If it does the folder & files need permissions

Ok, i gave permissions (sudo chmod 777) to:

          /opt/retropie/configs/ports/doom/
          *retroarch.cfg
          *emulators.cfg

          and
          /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom
          *prboom.cfg

I could always save/load state through the port itselft, not retroarch, i just use the built in options for my save files. Then I always change the screen to 16:9 and add a shader, then go to retroarch settings with select+X, and put Saving config on exit "on", and whenever I quit prboom, it doesn't save anything I did, just the savefiles are ok. Am I missing something?

PS: By the way, I gave those permissions through PuttY, and while I was doing that, I pressed F4 on my Pi3 keyboard and did all that while i was on that black screen for command lines.

@mahcneto retroarch has had some stuff fixed recently and im not sure if this is one of them but i would update retropie-setup and then install retroarch binary and see if that helps.

Retroarch binary has not been updated since 4.0 release.

I fixed an issue with the latest version not building from source. The binary i still the last stable release (1.3.6 or so). Will rebuilt new binaries once the new version is out and is tested etc. Can install from source to get bleeding edge versions, but comes with risk of new bugs too.

Oh, so you mean we have to wait for a PrBoom update and it is not that i'm messing around with the worng files/options?

By the way, I didn't know that PrBoom Plus existed at all, suppousedly it can load .pk3 mods just like ZDoom does, I don't know if it's compatible with Brutal Doom and the likes? Wonder if it would be too hard to port to work with the Pi3?
