Can you run /opt/retropie/supplementary/mesa-drm/modetest -r and post the output ? Since it's quite large, redirect it to a .txt file and post it on pastebin.com

      /opt/retropie/supplementary/mesa-drm/modetest -r > $HOME/RetroPie/roms/log.txt

      # get the file from the ROMs folder, should be `log.txt`

@pasaico OK, it looks like something that should have been fixed in the last update.

Can you take a look at the RetroPie version and when it was last updated ? It should be shown when you start RetroPie-Setup.

Did you also update the runcommand package from the core package section ?

You can give it another try to update RetroPie-Setup script (there's no need to update runcommand again) and see if you still have this problem ?

@mitu I’m having same issue now. I bought a new raspberry pi4 2GB (v1.5). I update my sd to 4.7.20 and it seems to work well but when I run any game I have this error. I tried to update Retropie-Setup again but the error still remain. Any suggestion?

Are you sure you're getting the same error ? This was fixed almost 2 years ago, before the 4.7 release.

                          Yes, same identical error.
Edit: I made some other attempts. I flashed a clean 4.7.20 retropie and no errors on launching games.
Whit my old 4.7.1 updated to 4.7.20 I have this error. The problem is that I have to use my old distro because is already complete and configured.

What's different in your old install ? Did you change the locale from the default (en_GB) ?

Nothing different. Resolved uninstalling and reinstalling runcommand from Retropie-Setup script. Now it seems to work like a charm.
                              Thanks @mitu for replying me.
