For some reason, my Duckstation will not run Final Fantasy 8. It will run other games like Alundra 2 and Crash Team Racing.
Is there an error log I can look at?
I notice other people can run Final Fantasy 8 and 9. Maybe I am running an old Duckstation. I had to install it manually since it no longer comes with Retropie.

@krathoon I am able to run FF8 using CHD files and a .m3u playlist to load all discs.

Check that the individual discs you have can load in the emulator, there may be something wrong with your disc images.

If you are using a .m3u playlist to load the game, make sure the paths to the .cue/.chd files are correct. If you are using discs in the format .CD1, .CD2, etc. I believe that is only supported by lr-pcsx-rearmed, and you will have to rename the discs back to their original file format if you want to use the .m3u with lr-duckstation.

If that fails, SSH into your Pi, start the game, then open the runcommand dialogue (press a button when prompted during load). Do the following in order:

      • In your terminal session, run tail -f /dev/shm/runcommand.log
      • Select "Launch with verbose logging" in the runcommand menu
      • Watch the log in the terminal window for error messages

@g30ff Ah. That is probably it. The m3u file needs to be changed to use cue files.
Yeesh. That is a pain in the butt. I used CD1, CD2 on all my multidisc games.

What I think I will do is change the files back to cue for Final Fantasy 8 and see if that works with Duckstation. If I have any other multi disc games that are glitch on Rearmed. I will also switch those back.
I really do not want to go back through and rename all those files.

Yes. That was the problem. Unfortunately, Duckstation is a little slow and will not let me double the resolution. Something about those Square games. Alundra 2 runs great, but still can't double the resolution. It fixes some minor graphics issues.
