      I'm using a 128gb SanDisk MicroSD card and a raspberry pi 3. I was updating my raspberry pi's packages from Rasp-Config, and when i did it gave me an error message. Do you know what to do to fix it? Screenshot 2022-02-27 143057.png

          @tigtagle your OS (Raspbian Stretch) is no longer supported and cannot be upgraded in-place.

          Backup your roms, bios, and configs folders over the network share, flash the latest image to your card, and then restore your backed-up folders. You should be back in business in {however long it takes to copy your ROM library and back.}

            @sleve_mcdichael Thanks for the suggestion, but I just installed retropie on my raspberry pi 2 days ago for the first time. I did try installing python on it yesterday but stopped in the middle of doing it so that might be the problem, but I'm not really good at this kind of stuff.

              Then you installed an outdated version. Your system is trying to pull updates for Raspbian Stretch. We're on Buster. The only supported image is the official one, from the link I provided.

                @sleve_mcdichael I'm a newbie so I don't know much, so I trust you with more experience but think I know the problem but I don't know how to fix it. Yesterday I watched an ETA Prime video about how to install an on and off button and I did some of it using putty, but now the files I installed are stuck on the pi and very old. Do you know if there is a way to remove the files with putty or via another way? Thanks so much for your help.

                  @tigtagle how did you install RetroPie? What guide did you follow, if any? What image did you use, if any?

                  Your error says Err:1 http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian stretch/main armhf dirmngr armhf 2.1.18-8~deb9u2.

                  Raspbian stretch (9) is no longer supported; RetroPie has moved on to Raspbian buster (10, with 11 bullseye right around the corner). That's why you are getting the error when it tries to update from the stretch archives. The current distributed images don't use these old, outdated archives. If you didn't use an old, outdated image, then whatever files you copied from the old, outdated video have broken your system, beyond my ability to repair, and my advice remains the same: backup your folders and install the latest official image.

                  Especially since you've just installed for the first time two days ago, it's not like you've got a lot of work to lose by restarting.

                  The only supported image is the official one. Start here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/

                    @sleve_mcdichael I installed the 2/3 retropie from the website and flashed it to my micro sd card. I also used a wolfanoz image for arcade 1up and flashed that onto my card too. Although I will follow your advice and just redownload it. Thanks for all your help.

                      Also, the image that I used is from 2019, so that might be why its outdated.

                        3rd party images are not supported as they are often distributed with copywrited material and are basically impossible to troubleshoot.
