Hello! I am having a problem. Whenever I install SRB2. The assets you provide for the in-game files (srb2.pk3, etc) are the wrong version so I get errors about it. The game is still playable but it causes visual errors sometimes. I would like to get it fixed, Thanks!

Please add some info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Which version of SRB2 do you have installed ?

I'm having the same problem. Tons of objects in-game show up as question marks. A good example is seeing the first few loading screens replaced with question marks. When you fight Eggman #1, his laser beams show up as dozens of question mark symbols. The version of this game is v2.2.9

The SRB2 program checks the asset files (the .pk3 files distributed with the game) on startup and if they don't match a checksum, the game won't start. As far as SRB2 is concerned, the correct files are present. If I try to update one of the .pk3 files (for instance using a newer srb2.pk3) and it doesn't match, the game won't start.

I see the question marks when starting the game, but I don't see in the logs an errors about missing assets. If they're distributed outside the normal .pk3 files, then tell me which files we should include to fix this and we'll include them in the assets package archive.

I found this forum post: (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/28787/sonic-robo-blast-2-and-karts-easy-install-and-updated-online-play).

I used WinSCP to replace the existing srb2.sh script with the one supplied in the forum post, I installed it from source, and this fixed the graphical problems. This installs v2.2.8.

However... after doing this, I ran into trouble when updating the Retropie Setup Script. I wasn't able to perform this operation, until I deleted the custom srb2.sh script that I got from the forum post.

So I guess the steps are... replace the existing srb2.sh file with the one supplied in the forum post, install it from source, and then delete it afterward to avoid future problems when updating the Retropie Setup Script.

                This installs v2.2.8.

This just downgrades the SRB2 version, but I don't see how is the solution to the missing assets in the current version (2.2.9).

SRB2 uses a couple of patch files (patch.pk3 and patch_music.pk3) to update the game. The eggman laser files were updated and is currently in the patch.pk3 if that helps

I've checked and the patch.pk3 files is present in the version installed by RetroPie. patch_music.pk3 is not, but it only contains updated .mid files and model data.
Maybe it's because the models.dat file is missing ? Can you grab it from the Windows release and copy it to /opt/retropie/ports/srb2 to check if it fixes the error ?

SRB2 just updated to 2.2.10, it does not have a patch file for 2.2.9 and a lot of things has changed. You should probobly update everything from there.

Also the models.dat is for the default 3d models that are included with the game that is optional (and can only be used in Open GL). So It is not needed.
