Game Mode on/off via CEC? ARC?
-
Pi's CAN make your TV switch to the input of the Pi automatically (which I find annoying so I turn it off with "hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1" lol), so it has some sort of CEC and/or ARC control ability.
My question is if we can make the Pi turn on "Game Mode" on our TV's with CEC or ARC? (then off when we're done playing it?)
My XBO/PS4 does this automatically via CEC or ARC. Heck, I'm pretty sure my Xbox 360 does this and that's from 2007! -- and they do this automatically without setting anything up as I never turned a setting on/off for this on my TV or AVR/Receiver.
This is actually super important for many of us, as my TV (like MANY others) has pretty kickbutt super low lag of 17ms when in Game Mode, then NINE TIMES GREATER LAG (152ms) with Game Mode OFF, so you can see why this would be a good idea.
I CAN turn Game Mode on manually, but it's SEVENTEEN button presses on the remote! (I just counted ;) then I commonly forget to turn it off (another SEVENTEEN button presses) when I watch movies and the quality suffers a bit so it's not ideal.

I'm not sure if that can be done dynamically, but you can set 'game mode' via
config.txt

Tried that on my Zero 2 W and RP4 and didn't work so don't know if that's an issue with the software or whatever.. or I also researched my TCL TV which has a history of firmware updates messing with some CEC protocols... so who knows. I would test it on another flatscreen I have but that's a TCL brand too ;)
