@Refazeshot1 I pretty much did it with only a half inch black border to the right of the picture which Is pretty good going but the human brain craves symmetry :) so would prefer a border on both sides or none. Still it's good going. Maybe I'll mess with options in the system.txt doc to see if I get better results

@hawkes_84 yeah you have to mess around with both the run command settings for the resolution and the settings in the game itself.

once i get to reinstalling SORR again. ill post what my settings are on my system

@ExarKunIv I've tried all the run command settings and got it near perfect except for the right corner there a bit of a black border. Ideally I'd have the old style 640x480 settings with two black borders on each side like the old megadrive resolution but am not able. Every time I choose that option its way too small. I tried messing with the system.txt doc to see if that would help but it said I don't have the permissions. Ah well! weird how it's perfect for the Pi3 but not the 4 :)

@hawkes_84 yes you will not be able to edit the system.txt file. i made it that way so it would not be overwrote when the use copys the files over. since that fine has a different setting for the video mode.

i was doing my best to have it so it will work and look the best out of the box, you know.

for you to get rights for the file again, run
          sudo chown -R pi:pi /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/sorr/mod/system.txt
          then
          sudo chmod 755 /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/sorr/mod/system.txt
(im sure there is a different command to do both, but i dont know it. and this works)
to get the ability to edit the file.
from there you can change the video settings and see if you can get it to be better

@ExarKunIv sorry about mixing posts but I just saw on your suggestions for ports #2 post that Doom 3 is a port for the Pi? Is this Doom 3 that came out on original Xbox - surely not? anyway I installed the script and installed it from experimental packages and when I went to play it just went to black screen. I tried it on my pi4 if that makes a difference. I'm guessing I need to transfer some files across to the Doom 3 folder but unsure which? After SORR port I've got a taste for them :)

@hawkes_84 yes its the same game.

to help keep things clean, keep the posts on topic. so you can go to here or make a new topic

when you install there is a package help menu selection under the install. in there it will have the list of all the file you need to copy over from the PC version.

when i get time i would like to go through and include demos for the ports that have demos, Doom 3 being one of them.

@ExarKunIv Do you know if anything else was changed with this script? I replicated @hawkes_84 issue by mistake. I updated my SOR from your script and I no longer get the full screen option. Its odd though because the system.txt is the same but for whatever reason the full screen option is no longer available.

@Refazeshot1 ah dude, sounded like you had it perfect! when I tried to get access to the system.txt and change it via @ExarKunIv previous script he gave it just kept saying "operand missing after" such and such. The res specs I'm using are 1280 x 720 @ 60hz which i believe is number 87-17 in the list which is near wide screen perfect except for a tiny black border to the right. Hope it helps

@Refazeshot1 strange how this is giving so many different types of bug. I guess it's never an exact science with raspberry Pi. Good luck!

@hawkes_84 Figured it out! @ExarKunIv Has an extra line at the top of the code in the system.txt. I removed this (You can use Floopies video for reference) and I now get the full screen option!! Something must of happened when the file was updated to place the "AUTO" option in. Try removing the line at the top and running the game 800X600 wide screen mode. Cheers.

                            24:23 into the video just look at all his spacing this has to match up with the current system.txt. Just don't change any of the options you already have;

@hawkes_84 I have SSH enabled and a password set up, but I edit all my files through the "File manager" option. I do it this way because my daughter always has the laptop. I am pretty sure everyone has root access when you access the system directly from the system this way.

@Refazeshot1 I never use SSH. Is this where you can link up to the Pi command lines via your PC etc? I tend to just press f4 when on the Pi and so all my tinkering from there. As you may have guessed I know nothing of Python or Linux. I tend to the type in what the smart guys tell me and hope it works! :D

@hawkes_84 If you have the PI 4 file manager is located in your retropie options from emulation station. All you need is a keyboard. Just navigate to where the system TXT is and its F4 to edit. When you make the change CTRL-X to exit and Y to save. All your doing is removing the extra space at the top of the document. Just make sure if you have little experience with this type of editing; not to edit anything else just the document mentioned.
