      hi,
      I own an argon One M.2 case with a raspberry Pi 4 B 2GB.
I flashed a retropie-image on the pi and it booted up normally and I was able to use it with keyboard...no problems.

To be sure I restarted the emulationstation several times and also tried to shut it down completly. Everything worked as expected and it always booted with no problems.

Then I attached it to my windows 10 pc because I wanted to add some files to the m.2.
I was able to see the retropie folder structure (mounted the fat and the ext4 with own drive letters).

But I didnt touch any file. I was just checking if I can see the folder structure.

Then i ejected the m.2 put it back in the argon, turned it on and now the display only shows a black screen.

I think windows did something to the drive that its not working properly anymore...could anyone help me to fix this?

I flahsed it several times always with the same outcome. When attaching it to windows it breaks. I think I attached it once to my synology and it broke to, but not quite sure if I attached it to windows, too.

Maybe there is a tool that can fix the ext4?..

      Thanks
      Tobi

*nix filesystems ain't supported by M$ on Windows and there are just a few 3rd party apps for that (and even fewer with write support), so (just out of curiousity) how did you assigned the ext4 partition to windows?

          @Ashpool I'm using ext2 volume manager.
          and this driver:
          https://sourceforge.net/p/ext2fsd/wiki/Home/

in the ext2 volumne manager you can simply give the partition a drive-letter and then it shows up in windows.

@TKoller Ok... just wanted to have asked/know... btw. the Project you linked is stating "Ext2Fsd is an open source linux ext2/ext3 file system driver for Windows systems (2K/XP/VISTA/WIN7, X86/AMD64).", so compared with this "bug" report ...

Volume Manager starts and shows Ext4 partitions (as Ext3) of an SSD USB connected drive.
However mounting them as Windows letters succeeds in the Ext2 Volume Manger but the Windows disk manager shows them as unformatted and asks for formatting. As such the volume remains unusable both for reading and writing. I think I better uninstall the driver than to risk corrupting my SSD. Sorry.

... and because of other ones in the tracker, I am inclined to say that ext4 suppot (if it is really intented) is just in an early stage... best way IMHO, if you are not able to access the drive on the running raspi via ssh/sftp or samba-shares over the network would be either the usb-stick reptropie folder method, or to setup a *nix VM under windows (VMWare/VirtualBox/Whatsoever) and mounting the drive within that and copy from shared folders VM:Host from Host to USB-Drive_(assigned to VM).
