      I have Retropie 4.8 on my Pi 4.
      I have Kodi set to boot up first. But one thing is, when i try boot into Retropie, every time that i hit boot to load retropie, it keeps loading back into Kodi not loading retropie?

        You're trying to set it back so it boots to EmulationStation instead of Kodi, but when you change the setting it is not being saved?

          I have Kodi install and set to autostart at boot. So when i tried going over to play a game, I went to power on Kodi and hit reboot, but that just reboot back right back to kodi, When i try to exit, same thing. I know once back before a redid it all from reburning a knew copy of retropie, I had kodi to auto start at boot, and when i reboot, i would have to do it 2 or 3 times, when i reboot, loading EmulationStation when come on on the screen and right into Retropie. But know after awhile, i burn retropie image on a 64Gb SD card loading it on the Pi 4 and I got through setting thing up like installing the emulators.

          I when over to install Kodi, and setting it to autostart at bootup. So i got Kodi to load first at boot up but when i hit exit or reboot, it won't let me load into Retropie.

            @raspberry79 if it's set to boot to Kodi then no matter how many times you reboot, it's always going to boot to Kodi.

            When i try to exit, same thing.

            That seems wrong though. When you exit without rebooting, it is supposed to load EmulationStation after.

              yes, that what it should do. I keep hitting the enter key on the keyboard but kodi keeps loading instead of loading into Emulationstation. Just trying to figure out how to fix that issue.

                        autostart.sh should be small enough to paste in a message here. Just put the content between code blocks:

                        ```
                        ...like this
                        ```

                        (Those are back-ticks.)

                            @raspberry79 yes or you can connect a keyboard and access the terminal (if you can quit Kodi without rebooting. Otherwise yes SSH would allow you to check remotely.)

                                From EmulationStation you can press F4 on an attached keyboard, or on a controller press Start and then choose Quit.

                                    No, we need to see the contents of that file. Please type:

                                    cat /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh

                                    ...and show us what it says.

                                          Do anyone have the same problem or is there anyone who can just exit kodi and load into ES

                                            The autostart.sh is ok, it instructs the system to boot kodi and (when it exits) start emulationstation.

                                            What might happen is kodi crashing on exit and then automatically restarting, thus not allowing EmulationStation to start.

                                            Go into Kodi settings, choose System and then in the Input sub-menu, go to Peripherals and disable the CEC Adapter. Then restart your system and see if exiting kodi still has issues.
