What file tells the various mames to use their artwork cfg files with their matching name roms?

Hi.
For some unknown reason after updating the retropie, the bezels for my various mames (in 4 dir) no longer work. The overlays still do, however. I don't understand. The art cfgs and pngs are still there with matching names for the bezels/roms and how to scale each one etc. to fit.each cfg is customized for its matching rom...The question is how do i activate this again? In what file? using what command? "Doug wants you to use these cfgs and pngs with these roms again order" :D ? -
When opening a support question, please add some info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Which MAME emulator ? How did you install the bezels ? Give an example of a game that worked and no longer works, with the configuration you added and - preferably - a verbose log.

@mitu I had a prebuilt pie. I have mame 2003, 2003-x, 2010 and 2016 and each one has .cfg and .png files in the opt directory of configs. They all loaded...a thousand of them? A ton with bezels when i first got the pie. It was 4.7. I updgraded to 4.8. The overlays are still there and in the mame (plain) supported Game and Watch directory. The bezels are all gone in that they don't show up at all. They still exist in their original directories. I just don't understand what file with what commands are needed to tell it load all those cfg/png bezels load up when any of the arcade emulators run again.

We don't support 3rd party images, which is quite clearly outlined in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
If you don't know how the image is configured, then you won't know how to fix any issues which may occur - start with the official image from https://retropie.org.uk/download if you wish we can offer you support here in the forums.
