PS4 Controller Acting Erractically RP4

Retropie
4.7.14.8.2. PS4 controller connected via bluetooth to RP4.Controller will drop out (controller doesn't disconnect, just won't register inputs) or random directional inputs will happen. This happens in both retropie menu/UI and retroarch games.
I have an 8bitdo adaptor on order but I'd really like to understand this issue. Any and all help appreciated, thank you.

@karhozat why are you using this pretty old version of retropie?
We are at 4.8.2., and there has been quite a lot of updates concerning Inputs & BT-Connection.
Is there a special reason you stay with this 2 year old version?
I recommend to update the whole system and try again (i am using 4 8BitDos and PS3/4-Pads myself without issues. All Pads without extra dongle/adapter by the way.) -
@sirhenrythe5th Good call out. I'm actually using 4.8.2 on second look. I don't know where I got 4.7.1 from!

@karhozat looks like radio interference. Coming from your case blocking signals, other Bluetooth devices nearby, other strong radio interference nearby, a microwave oven cooking nearby. Too much stuff uses 2.4 ghz.
I use an 8bit do adapter myself, and I still get problems when I put the adapter in the back of my case. If I use a usb extension cable, the issues go away. -
@lostless ah, you could be right. I was playing upstairs with no problems earlier but experienced same issues when I moved it back downstairs I experienced issues again. Now my PS5 won't Bluetooth connect with the PS5. Something weird is happening.
-
@karhozat if your wireless router next to the pi/ps5? that may be an issue. You might have to move it to a different location or change channels on the 2.4 GHz line.
-
@lostless Yep, the wireless router, PS5, pi, Nintendo Switch and smart TV are all within a couple meters of each other in the living room. Like I said, I didn't experience any issues using the pi upstairs. Thanks for your help here, I never would have considered that to be the issue.
I might just have to go wired when using the pi in the living room as I don't have an option to move the wireless router.
