Using Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS with the latest 4.8.2 build
currently trying to build retroarch fails with an error about "HEAD is now in branch 'retropie-v1.10.0' " and "Error running "git checkout retropie-v.1.12.0"
some patch branch on retropie isn't on github as expected to be or something's going on there.

Retroarch still starts up anyway, but I'm discovering that retropie starts up now with it's logo - which is unusual - and trying to quit the game using hotkey results in a massive crash. using an nvidia card with noveau open-source free drivers.
Also I have to hack the controller cfg file with product and vendor info as per usual due to SDLv2

More likely your local source copy is still present, because v1.10.0 fails to build with Ubuntu 22.04. Clean up the source folder before attempting another install.
