If it is just about adding roms and you are using a filemanager...why dont you just copy the roms to your pi without using an USB-Stick?

What kind of power supply are you using on the Pi ?
Exit EmulationStation (or log in via SSH to your RetroPie system) and rundmesg -wthen plug in the USB stick. See if you get any messages and post them here - the USB detection should be logged on to your terminal.
You can stop the command by pressingCtrl+C. -
@mitu I'll check when I get home.
EDIT: I just remembered. It's a micro USB cable plugged into a big charging brick with 1 outlet. It came with the Kano kit that this setup is based on. -

So the USB drive is detected, but I'd need to see the actual messages that show up to see if the partitions are properly detected.

@Recordspinner Didn't work, renamed files and I had to reinstall Retropie
