Mono Audio for HDMI?
-
Hello! So I happen to have bought a portable gaming device (the waveshare gamepi43) and I have a problem with the audio. You see, It only has one speaker so it only supports mono audio. What I am trying to say here is. Is there a way to make it so RetroPie will use mono audio with all of my games? I'm really stuck here. Certain games I play uses stereo audio and its really annoying to not hear everything (for example the ring panning sound effect for most sonic games). I would love to have this fixed

Seems similar to the GPICase. You'll have to configure the ALSA soundcard accordingly, here's an example for the GPICase.

ty for the help! I Just have a question: Do I need to install anything extra in order to get this work? Or is it build into the system? it said it was a new file so I don't really understand

Just realized this thing had an audio jack for headphones. So that got me thinking: Is it possible to have mono audio on both ends. Seems like the solution for this problem has it on only one side. And if I do this. Will it cause problems?

No, there's nothing extra to install, the file mentioned just configures the audio output.
... Will it cause problems?
I really didn't understand what exactly you're trying to say there.

what i mean is... If I set both left and right to go off with the same sounds. Will it cause problems with reverb? IDK I'm just curious
EDIT: Just found an intireley different problem that doesnt have to with audio but an emulator. Should I post it here or create a new thread?

I don't think so.

If it's not related to the audio configuration for stereo to mono conversion, then please open a separate topic.
