I updated to the newest version of retropie from 512gb older version. I'm not sure if the update stalled and missed some of the code. All colors are gone. At first the audio and video was gone. When I switched the output to hdmi, it fixed that issue.. please help. I've only had this for a week. I want my original set up back.. wish I never updated. Please help.

This doesn't look like a stock RetroPie installation - is this a 3rd party image ?
If you used rpi-update to update your system (which is never recommended), you can get back your original kernel and firmware by running:

            sudo apt install --reinstall raspberrypi-bootloader raspberrypi-kernel raspberrypi-kernel-headers libraspberrypi-bin libraspberrypi-dev libraspberrypi-doc libraspberrypi0

You confused the forums, you are using Batocera not RetroPie.

I purchased this from sonicon thru walmart! Does this look like a bootleg site?

Yes. We don't support scammers selling pre-loaded RetroPie images and - as @windg mentioned - I don't think you're actually using Retropie.

@DJ151 You can ask for help in their forum, it looks that it is a known issue : https://forum.batocera.org/d/9428-green-screen-on-batocera-on-pi-3-b .
