      Asking because of this:
      https://www.speedrun.com/spo/thread/5lxg7

      SNES9X Warning (Piston Tas)
"Just wanted to make a forum post cause it isn’t super widespread knowledge and not everyone checks the IL guide (you should). But the 5.49 on piston is NOT possible on snes9x. It is still allowed to be used but if you throw the delayed left body blow on the correct frame using the snes9x core than piston will block it. Making the best time on snes9x 5.50. So use anything but that if you are planning on getting piston wr."

I've been wondering for days now why I couldn't tie the World record on my Pi.

So what emulator should I best be using to speed run Super Punch-Out!!?

      Thanks. :)

I know that there are some patches that speed up some snes games . You can find the list with the patches here : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gUB4N0-tM7Ln-9ZMwkp_T7bwb4tDAMI6ciioYMxXzSk/edit#gid=0

I hope the patched game to be compatibility with RetroAchievement.

My English isn't at a good level.

@Addison said in Second best SNES emulator after Snes9x for Retroachievements?:

But the 5.49 on piston is NOT possible on snes9x

Latest - upstream - SNES9x version is 1.62.3 - not sure to which variant of SNES9x is the post your're referring to is alluding (upstream project or libretro core or the RASnes9x port ?). The upstream is pretty close synchronized to the libretro core, which is included in RetroPie.
A better/more accurate emulator is the bsnes core, but I don't think it supports RetroAchievements and it's not going to be fullspeed on a Pi.

@windg I don't think patches are accepted by the RetroAchievements team, I think only the No-Intro ROM is supported.

I know that a patched Advance Wars rom on the GBA is required for Retroachievements.

It's quite possible others are needed as well so I'll rifle thru that link.

The post message I quoted was one year ago and the topic is locked.

Hence the reason why I was asking here.

            EDIT:
Oh, never mind on having the game patched:

There is currently 1 supported game file hash registered for this game.

              According to the following page:

              https://retroachievements.org/download.php

Bizhawk, RALibRetro, RASnes9x (Snes9x), and RetroArch are all supported.

Which one should I download and use instead of the default emulator that comes with Emulation Station solely for Super-Punchout?

@Addison Bizhawk is the premier choice. Doesn't run on a Pi4 at acceptable speeds though, so you can try it on a PC.

                  Okay.

                  Thanks!

Would've been nice to have tied that record on a TV, but it's only a single fight, so a PC isn't much of a bother. :)

I had more than 500+ attempts with Piston Hurricane on the Pi 4 and somehow could not figure out what all I was doing wrong.

Fired up your suggested Bizhawk tonight.

Landed this money shot on only my second attempt.

                    Tied for world record!

Next, I'm coming after you Bear Hugger. :D

Thanks again for the help through this, Mitu.
