Before I downgrade to buster and go through the whole process of reinstalling and setting up everything again, I have one question. Is there any word on a Bullseye version of Retropie? I would hate to go to all the trouble to have a working version of retropie to find an update version was to be released next month.

      thanks

Though it's still in beta, I think a manual install on Bullseye should not have any major issues and you can try running it. Which Pi model do you have ?

Maybe you will have sound issues with the beta version. The last time i test it, few months ago, i didn't have sound and the ES was freezing.

Sound/Audio should be working after this PR got merged yesterday, you just need to configure it once and it should set the defaults system wide.

@mitu Thanks for the response. I have the RP4. I'm sorry if im not completely understanding on how to go about the install. So please bare with me a little more.

When you say "manual install", are you referring to a different method than using the install script found in the github repository? If so, could you point me towards the instructions to do this properly?

                Thanks again.

No, the GitHub repo is the "manual way" (as opposed to using the preconfigured SD images available for download).

No, you still use the script following the docs.
