      Hello, friends. It's been a while.

      I'm a bit confused regarding current fbneo sets and the core version I compile within retropie.

      Some ROMs that work on the latest build on PCs are still not supported, while version "names" look different.

      In comparison to the latest romset, how much behind is the latest version of retropie's rep?

      I'd like to rebuild the romset according to it. Thank you.

        Retropie pulls from the libretro fork which is usually in sync by a few hours/days with the current version of FBNeo.

        If the versions between your pc and your retropie seem very far apart, i see 2 possibilities :

        • for some reason, compilation fails on your device and the core ends up never being updated
        • the version you are using on pc is not the latest, are you talking about standalone ? if so, make sure you are downloading the nightlies from https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/releases/tag/latest, i see many users mistakenly downloading the 1.0.0.02 release which is several years old.

          @barbudreadmon that's interesting.

          On windows indeed I'm using the latest nightlies from the releases link. Actually newly added/modified ROMs work fine only on windows (e.g. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs parent -aka dino.zip- has been recently modified on the romset, with latest changes on Jul 21 2023).

          However, the windows build (e.g. 51efa3c right now) always seems different between what I get by downloading (or compiling) the core. It appears that the core gets updated, as the build numbers frequently change but seem always different to the nightlies on windows.

            What's the build number on your retropie ? (bottom left of retroarch menu when the core is running)

                @matchaman It's a version from may indeed, so i can only think the compilation fails for some reason when you are building from sources. Maybe retropie has building logs ? It'd be helpful to troubleshoot this.

                  @barbudreadmon Thanks a lot :) I'll have to check again tonight after work. So "from source" I normally should only be getting the latest nightly, is that correct?

                    You should get the latest libretro core nightly, which again has some delay from the standalone nightly. I usually sync it only 2-3 times a week, except when i have a good reason to not do so.
