SanDisk 512 Card Rainbow Screen Boot.
-
Power Supply used: Original
RetroPie Version Used 4.8
Built From: Original Raspberry Site
USB Devices connected: NONE
Controller used: PS4 Wired
Error messages received: Rainbow Screen Full
Storage: SanDisk 512GB SDHCThis occurs only with an Original SanDisk 512 Card imaged with the RetroPie Image via the Raspberry Pi Imager and direct downloaded .img from Raspberry site.
It will work as per usual when a Pi O/S is flashed just not RetroPie for some reason. Do I need to create the partitions a different way than usual, as in let the program do the partitioning etc?
I had tried with Pi Imager and etcher same deal.

No, there's no need for partitioning the card before writing the image, the card will be entirely overwritten by Pi Imager/Etcher/etc.
Are you sure you're choosing the correct image for your Pi model ? What Pi model do you have ? - you didn't mention it in the info provided. -
@mitu forgot sorry is a Pi4.

You said Raspi OS works, when written to the card, but no RetroPie - that's strange since RetroPie's image is basically just a Raspi OS Lite image with RetroPie installed.
There's a possibility that the card's capacity is not 512Gb (a fake card) and you can test that with a program like H2testw (Windows) or F3 (Linux).You can try writing a Raspi OS lite image and then install RetroPie manually on top of it - see the docs for how to do that.

@mitu thanks will try that. It is 512 as I use diskgenius and diskpart as well, and shows true size.
-
@mitu It is a custom .img I am using, DZ-RETRO-MACHINE-512-PI4.img
I may just have to extract the contents of the image and manually add required files to the RetroPie partition.
I do not know if this question is even supported for custom packages.

@xDantex We don't support 3rd party images, as outlined in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@mitu No worries - thanks.
