Best Apple 2gs emulator for the Retropie as of October, 2023?

What would you say is the best , easiest to use and most compatible apple 2gs emulator that i can obtain at this time? standalone or libretro?-Douglas

Not tried it myself as I've never gone down the Apple 2 rabbit hole; but isn't there only one Apple 2 emulator that compiles?

@retropieuser555 Not even looking for a regular Apple 2 emu, but an Apple 2 Gs which was a later and different computer. Thanks though!

Have you used an emulator for the Machine before? Had a quick Google and came across the GSplus? It has a Linux build, you could try and compile manually, maybe a build will work with arm

I think you might already be aware, but all I've seen that works well enough is MESS/MAME Apple GS working under the script Folly and DTEAM setup/created.
Other than that, I don't know of any other option that's simple to install and get running. The MESS version works pretty good, although the controls need to be configured and you need a keyboard/mouse to use it.
