I've got a nicely configured Pi4 based cabinet and have been using the PieMarquee2 setup for the dynamic marquees on a second screen. Love It!

Now that I've got a (generally) working Pi 5 Retropie setup running on a 64 OS, I need to update the PieMarquee2 binaries but all the repositories only seem to ship Pi3 and Pi4 binaries. I could install all of the armf libraries but that seems a step backwards.

Does anyone have a copy of PieMarquee2 compiled up for the Pi5 or can point me to the source code so I can build it myself?

      Thanks
      Ian

Isn't PieMarquee2 a Python script (hosted at https://github.com/losernator/PieMarquee2/) ? Why do you think it needs compilation ?

@mitu Because it comes with a specialized emulationstation binary that gets dropped over the top of existing one. I guess I haven't tried just the scripts on their own but why ship a binary if it's not needed?

@idpitt The ES binary shouldn't be needed anymore, the changes needed to support PiMarquee-style scripts have been added to the RetroPie's fork for some time - see https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/pull/751.

I'm bot sure if the existing PiMarquee2 script is compatible with the implemented changes, but maybe it can be adapted to work with EmulationStation's scripting system ?

@mitu Thanks for the info. I'll continue to investigate as and when I get time.

Unfortunately the PieMarquee2 scripts relies on omxiv (depreciated and not compatible with arm64) to place the image on the second display. fbi doesn't seem to be a good replacement and I haven't found a way to make cvlc display to a specific hdmi port.

if I find an app or you know of one I'd love rework the scripts to get my 64bit P5s marquee going.
