    Hi,

    I'm trying to reinstall RetroArch on RP5 but the process errors out during the install. I've updated the RetroPie setup script today, but it won't let me proceed with the RetroArch install.

    Here's a copy of the build log:

    https://pastebin.com/MzGCcc27

    I've trried googling but haven't found anything I can understand. Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

      @Comrade_Friendly

      Try to run from the terminal

      sudo ./configure again

      My English isn't at a good level.

        @windg Thanks. That helped, although it's got stuck later on.

        I tried to build it (which resulted in the error), then navigated to:

        cd ./tmp/build/retroarch

        And ran:

        sudo ./configure

        It then got further but errored out later in the build:

        https://pastebin.com/uLhrwhTe

        I presume at this line:

        gfx/drivers_context/vc_egl_ctx.c:24:10: fatal error: VG/openvg.h: No such file or directory
        24 | #include <VG/openvg.h>
        | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~
        compilation terminated.

          Are you using Bookworm Lite or Desktop?

          Also, try to update your system if you haven't.

          sudo apt update
          sudo apt upgrade

            @windg Hi, it's just the Bookworm Lite version:

            PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)"
            NAME="Debian GNU/Linux"
            VERSION_ID="12"
            VERSION="12 (bookworm)"
            VERSION_CODENAME=bookworm
            ID=debian
            HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/"
            SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support"
            BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"

            I've ran:

            sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

            Then repeated the steps in my last post. It still aborts. Here's the new log (I think it's failing at the same point).

              I will try to reinstall mine to check, just in case that something changed upstream and create issue.

                @windg said in RP5 can't reinstall RetroArch:

                Thank you - will check back in a bit later : )

                  i did a fresh install, all core packages installed without issues. I followed the official RetroPie guide.

                  The only thing that i did and don't exist in the guide is to add to the end of the config.txt file, this line:

                  kernel=kernel8.img

                  My English isn't at a good level.

                    @windg Thanks for checking. I wanted to avoid installing everything again, although if I can't figure this out, I might have to consider it.

                      @windg Hi again.

                      I took your advice and uninstalled RetroPie completely, then reinstalled everything again.

                      Everything works as intended, and now I can also play N64 games (mupen64plus-next wouldn't load previously).

                      Thanks for helping.
