Kodi no longer works
-
EDIT: this has been solved and can be closed, for future reference, it was my HDMI switcher of all things! It ran fine on the ES menu, but when I booted into Kodi, the switcher stopped receiving input. I also had a computer plugged in tonight and it worked, but after turning off the tv and turning it back on, no input.
Idk man tech is haunted ¯_(ツ)_/¯Hello! I have used Kodi on this Pi flawlessly in the past. After a few months of not using it, I tried to select Kodi from the Ports menu and it immediately crashes to a black screen/no input after it tries to launch. I hadn't changed anything previously, it wasn't even connected to wifi at first, it just won't launch.
I've updated everything I could, removed/purged/reinstalled and I'm at a loss. The rpmanager.log after crash just shows RpiManager listening on port. I've also tried apt-get install --reinstall kodi kodi-bin.
At one point I got it to just fault back into emulationstation because it couldn't find a path or something. Weirdly enough, launching kodi through putty makes the kodi launch noise happen, but nothing else.Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 4
Power Supply used: official
RetroPie Version Used: updated to 4.8.6 in the process, did not work before or after
Built From: Retropie
USB Devices connected: PS3 controller and keyboard
Controller used: PS3
Verbose log (if relevant): https://pastebin.com/RQYBM5d7
/home/pi/.kodi/temp/kodi.log attached ^
Attachment of config files: https://pastebin.com/RQYBM5d7
How to replicate the problem: run kodiThanks in advance!!

It wasn't possible to reproduce the issue.Try to launch Kodi with the keyboard to be the only peripheral in the Pi.

@abj tried that and no success. I’m not sure what happened tbh

Does anyone have an update for this? I’ve tried everything again with no luck. It’s not generating any crash files to look at, and no other logs have anything useful.
I also may have softlocked everything by setting auto start to Kodi and can’t change it back -

The auto-start sequence can be changed from RetroPie-Setup - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#how-do-i-boot-to-the-desktop-or-kodi.
EDIT: you can do the above steps from a SSH session if you can't have access via keyboard.

@mitu thankfully I just figured out how to do that and had putty set up so I’m back to ES.
I’ve also learned that the Pi is still running after Kodi crashes. It just sends my tv to no signal so I thought it shut off.
