      Hello!

I can't start Amiberry any more after upgrading from Version 5.2 to 5.6.6 with Retropie 4.8.1 (with the "update package" script) on my Raspberry Pi 4b. After selecting the system and ADF files, I am thrown back to the menu every time. I have never updated the system since mid-2022 because it was not necessary. Do I perhaps need any other packages to make it work? Can I somehow start the emulator from the command line (pi@retropie) to be able to see the error message? This is not possible from the Emulationstation menu.

Did you update RetroPie-Setup before updating the package ? Make sure you're using the current version and re-download/update again the updated version since new versions of Amiberry may need additional configuration and/or other depenedand packages to be installed first.

@mitu When is a beta image available (or do you need testers?)? I'm perfectly able to build my own Pi5 /Retropie install but using a beta (when made available) is easier to update to the "release" version in the near future.

@mth75 Not sure how it relates to the current topic ? I don't have an ETA for an new (Pi5 compatible) image, though it's not going to be radically different than a manual install (which you can do now) over RaspiOS. If you have other Pi5 question, I suggest you use the Pi5 topic that's pinned here.

              I had the same problem.
In the bottom of this link is my solution. Generel advice is to make a backup before updating RetroPie.
