Hi! I have an Rpi3B+ I have all my arcade games run with mame2003 with no issues at all.
But I use fbalpha2012 with 3 games and they run ok... BUT the quick menu looks awful, blurred. I cant change anything cause I can't see anything.

@fatfrog fba2012 is unmaintained and you shouldn't use it.

If i had to make a blind guess, considering you didn't read https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first and provided absolutely no information about your setup, i'd say it's some kind of screen refresh rate issue.

@barbudreadmon thanx for the reply. But i believe the refresh rate issue would affect the game too, am i right? It only affect the quick menu.
          Ill try another fba emulador.

Any specific reason not to use fbneo? It's the only one maintained at this point in time.
Vanilla fbalpha should be used if you don't have the hardware to run neo. alpha2012 should only be used if normal alpha doesn't work for you.

In case it wasn't obvious enough, i was hoping you'd read https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
We can't provide any help if you don't provide exhaustive informations about your setup.

There is no core based on the latest version of fbalpha from 2019, and even if there was, it'd be slower at running "Street Fighter 3 2nd Impact" (the game from the above screenshot, whose name should have been provided) than FBNeo.

@Protocultor no particular reason at all. Im very new to this, so I was trying every core emulator when the ROM didnt work with mame2003 (the default One). I tried now the lr-fbneo one still no change: games run perfectly but the quick menu still looks like that.
I have 3 games under fbneo: svc chaos, sf3 2nd Impact and sf3 3rd strike. All of the with the same issue.

I have a lcd 4:3 monitor with no brand at all. All it's plastic case was removed.
Sorry i didn't read the 'read it first' links. I'm single father of 2 with barely time for this.
Thanx for the patience and replies.#

Those monitors are very old and usually only accept analog video inputs, meaning your rpi3 is not connected to your screen by some standard hdmi here ? It'd be nice to not have to guess everything about your setup...

Again, this screenshot you posted looks typical of frequency/vsync issues, most likely due to the unusual screen setup and those 3 games not being 60hz games. It's not really surprising mame2003 doesn't have this kind of problem since back in 2003 most games were emulated inaccurately at the wrong speed of 60hz.

One thing you could try is to use the "Force 60Hz" core option in FBNeo, that core option will force every game to run at 60hz, but you'd need to be able to use retroarch's menu to do that. Maybe you could try launching a game that is still running at 60hz in FBNeo, like dkong, and change the core option from there.
