EmulationStation shows a black screen when booting

Hey,
EmulationStation won't boot, it just shows a black screen. Everything else worked fine before I installed an update. Should I reinstall RetroPie?
Specs:
Computer: Raspberry Pi 3B
Controller: GameSir T4w
SD card: SanDisk 32GB Class 10
Display: ViewSonic VX2235WM-3
Please Help!

@Lappy4861 I have a similar problem, can you tell me how did you solve? I have a Pi 4 and suspect that the problem is the controller, since with 8bitdo controller it boots well.
