Pi Model or other hardware: 5B
      Power Supply used: 5V, 27W @ 5A from Canakit
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.8.9 (69cb744)
Built From: Manual install using this guide: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Manual-Installation/
USB Devices connected: 2 8BitDo controllers
Controller used: 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wired
Error messages received: No error message received
      Verbose log (if relevant):
      Guide used: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Manual-Installation/
File: (File with issue - with FULL path)
      Emulator: N/A
      Attachment of config files: https://pastebin.com/2ig5ULqp
How to replicate the problem: I wish I knew

I'm working headless, able to SSH in, transfer files, and have configured for auto-staring EmulationStation:

      RetroPie-Setup version: 4.8.9 (69cb744) System: rpi5 (aarch64) - Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) - Linux retropie5 6.6.74+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.6.74-1+rpt1 (2025-01-27) aarch64 GNU/Linux

      = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Running action 'gui' for 'autostart' : Auto-start EmulationStation / Pegasus / Kodi on boot = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Log ended at: Sat 1 Mar 08:49:29 CST 2025 Total running time: 0 hours, 0 mins, 23 secs

      But EmulationStation doesn't boot.

When I SSH in and try: nohup emulationstation &
I get: pi@retropie5:~ $ nohup emulationstation & [1] 898 pi@retropie5:~ $ nohup: ignoring input and appending output to 'nohup.out' nohup: failed to run command 'emulationstation': No such file or directory

@brujahrage said in Can't boot into EmulationStation:

nohup: failed to run command 'emulationstation': No such file or directory

You don't have EmulationStation installed - you either didn't install it or the installation failed (look in $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/logs for installation logs).
