Pi Model or other hardware: (Pi 4B Rev 1.2)
      Power Supply used: 5.1V
      RetroPie Version Used (4.8.9):
      Built From: (Provided by Imager)
USB Devices connected: 3.1 USB 256GB, logitec wireless keyboard K400, Wired 8BitDo Pro Gamepad
Controller used: Wired 8BitDo Pro Gamepad
      Error messages received: none
      Verbose log (if relevant): n/a
      Guide used: n/a
File: (File with issue - with FULL path)
      Emulator: mednafen

If one were to use medafen provided by the Buster repository on retropie to experiment on, what would be some recommendations to deal with input lag and screen tearing? I didn't think mednafen had that much going on in the background so kinda surprised by this. Thank you :)

Are you refering to the 3-7 (might be 9 actually, i'm not sure anymore) frames of input lag present on original saturn hardware ?

Actually, I'm taking about NES emulation with mednafen. Wired controller is so laggy and Im out of ideas about what could be done to improve the input lag. I'm starting to wonder if it's the controller but I thought 8bitdo was supposed to be a good controller for RetroPie, since I'm also noticing this input delay on RetroArch too 🤔

You should have started from there instead of making it look like a mednafen issue. In the first place, i can hardly make sense of using mednafen standalone to play nes games on rpi4, there are plenty of better options afaik.

Retroarch has the P+K method to measure input lag, and in my experience the nes cores usually have 0 frames of input lag (i.e. the game reacts at the frame right after pressing a button), there might be exceptions but i doubt it ever goes beyond 1 frame.

If you are experiencing huge input lag on nes emulation, then i can only suppose something unrelated to emulation is at work here, like display lag or something about your controllers.
