Quick question about installed emulators (I hope)
-
I put some N64 roms into the proper (?) folder and nothing changed after restarting ES. So...question: Do I have to install an N64 emulator or should it just be part of the retropie image?
I was expecting it to behave as before when I added roms to the SNES and 7800 folders. The new options lit up in the ES menu and fun was had by all. However, when that didn't happen and despite looking around the forums and site, I can't tell whether a.) I have to install an emulator package (i.e. I'm doing it wrong) or b.) I've missed a step (i.e. I'm doing it wrong).

Yep. I was right. I was doing it wrong. It may not seem like it, but I had looked... and apparently missed it completely. :) Thanks!

@dankcushions It's odd. Not sure really what's going on. According to what I can read, the N64 libretto should be installed by default. I put several roms in there and it doesn't light up in ES. I then followed the advice of the wiki and added Mupen64Plus...shouldn't it create a new folder on my transfer USB? Doesn't seem to be in the rom folder on the pi either...
I'm installing all optional cores from source. If that doesn't work, I might just start over from a fresh image.

@Fourthlaw i'm very confused what you're doing. all main emulators are installed by default. if you put roms in then they must be in the wrong place or in the wrong format. what did you put where? screenshots very helpful :)

I shouldn't think you want to do that.
Please provide more information - see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first (I don't know what version of RetroPie you are running, or even which hardware you are running it on etc).
