      Model: (3 B )
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.1

Hello all, I have troubles with the wifi connections with my raspberry pi 3 (model b). I can connect to the wifi and I can connect to the pi (I'm using a Mac, so I connect via smb://retropie) and I can start transferring files, but every time the the connection drops, so it's impossible for me to transfer large roms (> 200 MB) with wifi.

I have tried different power sources (over 2,4 A, 2,5 A, 3,0 A), I have tried different locations (near the router, far away), it's always the same. It just happens during the transfer. When I try to search for the roms I installed on the retropie wifi works perfect.

      Does anyone have a suggestion?

Apple's unique implementation of SMB has had issues since it's introduction in Lion (10.7). You'll save yourself some headaches by connection to the pi via SSH/SFTP using a file transfer program such as Cyberduck.

Thank you, that worked. But the connection is awful slow (unter 400 kB/s).

Are you able to connect to other wireless devices in that area of your home at a greater speed?

Yes, normal speed. I'm not sure if the Pi itself is the reason why it's so slow.

WiFi issues can be very hard to troubleshoot. There are just so many factors involved. It's my experience that it almost always boils down to an environmental issue. However, if you're using an RPi 3, the built-in antenna can be prone to interference from certain build decisions, such as casings, peripheral attachments and even metal heat sinks.

I'm okay with the speed. For me it was just a "is it possible" challenge. Small roms can be easily transferred, and large roms I can transfer the old-school USB-stick way ;)

Sometimes there's just no substitute for sneakernet.
