I downloaded the latest Retropie image for the Raspberry Pi 3, applied the image to the SD Card, installed it into the Pi, booted up, setup wifi, and then copied a handful of roms over to the Samba share.

Why is it that I don't see anything but RetroPie on the main screen? None of the 3 consoles I've place roms in, are showing up at all.

I've read there's a file I have to modify, to make this work, is this true?

@Elterrible Please read this: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, provide additional info and make sure you have actually ran through the initial setup and installation of the emulators.

Retropie in a NES - Pi 3 with Mausberry circuit shutdown switch wired to buttons and 8bitdo NesPro30 controller
Retropie in a Saturn Controller - Pi Zero, GPIO controls using DB9 driver
        Retropie in a PSX - Pi3

What have you read? What file? What consoles? Based on the lack of information, I can suggest that you look at the parse gamelists setting and check what it is set to. If incorrect, new roms will not show.

@markyh444 Sorry, was in a hurry to get to work and thought I typed which emulators out.

I've installed Genesis, PC Engine, and NES. Each has a Known good ROM installed in their Roms directory via the SAMBA Share.

I cannot remember the name of the file, I'll have to get that info when I get home.

Anyway, I setup the initial configuration and have it on Wifi, I'm just not seeing any of the emulators on the main screen and I feel like I should be seeing some.

@Elterrible I'd check what @rbaker suggests with regards to the parse gameslist setting in ES then if you've definitely installed the emulators.

@rbaker Thanks, I'll check that and see what I can find.

Okay so, apparently I misunderstood the copying process... I thought I could just use the SAMBA Shares, but that didn't work... However, I have since used the USB Flash Drive option and now the games and emulators are showing up on the console.

                  So, problem solved!
