Pi2B2 (RPI2b V1.2) dropping to command line on first boot
-
Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 2 Model B v1.2 board uses BCM2837
Power Supply used: 2.1a 5v
RetroPie Version Used (3.6, 3.8.1, 4.01 etc.. - do not write latest): 4.01
Built From: image from Torrent supplied by retropie
USB Devices connected:Panda BT 4.0
Controller used:Ps3
Error messages received: none
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): N/A
Guide used: None
File: N/A
Emulator: N/A
Attachment of config files: Default config Files(first boot)
How to replicate the problem: on first boot, Retropie 4.1 boots to command line, showing me a pretty ASCII joystick, and some neat information about the system.typing "emulationstation" in the terminal nets me a black screen flash, and back out to command line.
if i cat /var/log/syslog | |grep "emulationstation" i get no output, though i know i just tried to run it before.

@unitypunk Wrong image?
-
retropie-4.1-rpi2_rpi3.img should be the right one for RPi2 and 3 correct, thats the one im using. and the only one i have.
the md5 checker matched up, so i know teh file is legit, i have used 2 different sd cards and got the same results.
-
the same sd card(s) that drop to command line in pi2b 1.2 will boot to emulationstation in my pi2b1.1 pie, and my pi3.
-
@unitypunk I have no idea what you are saying.
-
@rbaker i am using "retropie-4.1-rpi2_rpi3.img" downloaded from the torrent linked around here in the forum... that is the correct image for a raspberry pi2 i believe
-
@unitypunk Just to confirm, how many raspberries do you see on boot ?
-
@unitypunk Yes I get that, but not this:
the same sd card(s) that drop to command line in pi2b 1.2 will boot to emulationstation in my pi2b1.1 pie, and my pi3. -
@rbaker if i put the same sd card into a Pi3 or a Pi2b 1.1 it boots to emulation station.
-
@BuZz, just one
-
@unitypunk If this card works on other Pis then you have either a broken Pi or not the Pi you think you have. So if you see one raspberry, you have the wrong image.
-
i was just informed this isnt a pi 2, its a 1. im sorry guys, i dont know how to read i guess.
-
@unitypunk It says on it, Model B+ meaning Pi 1. Use the other image from the website for 0/1.
-
@rbaker The 2014 stamped on it also shows it can't be a 2 or 3.
-
@rbaker my pi2 is stamped 2014, thats kinda part of how i think i came up with it being a pi2. but yes im getting the 1 image now. thanks for the help guys!
-
using pi1 images worked great, thanks again guys!
