Barrel plug with ControlBlock
-
I'm working on an NES mod, and I want to use as much original hardware as possible. I'm considering buying a ControlBlock since it will allow me to use the power button, LED and controller ports with my RaspPi3. Does anyone know if a barrel plug can be used with ControlBlock for powering both the board itself and the raspberry pi, in the same way that one can be used with the PowerBlock?
I can't find anything on petrockblock about this specifically for the ControlBlock.
Thanks!

The ControlBlock does not directly provide cut-outs for a barrel plug. However, it provides break-out pins for an arbitrary 5V and GND connection so that you could, e.g., solder wires from the barrel plug connector to those pins. Alternatively, the ControlBlock also provides pin outs for a USB-B connector, see also here:
Hope that helps!

@petrockblog yes it does, thanks! That's what I had suspected when I read its description but I wanted to confirm my thought was correct before moving ahead. This actually fits the project well because I was planning to extend the barrel plug from the back of the console to the PowerBlock if I had purchased that board instead of the ControlBlock.

The answer is yes. The issue might be finding the right power adapter the fit the plug as the OEM adapter for the nes was 9v, 1amp.
