      Thanks. But to be honest it is a little too advanced for me at this stage. I'm still very new to all this, and have trouble just putting things the right places, lol :-) I was hoping that there might be an easier fix for a noob like me.

        @SteffenMB The neogeo.zip is the bios pack and it goes directly to the rom folder where the other roms are. Seems that your romset is missing some files. The best solution would be to scan your romset as described in the wiki. If you feel it's too advanced, you can try this:
        get another romset to test
        get different neogeo.zip files to test
        get different mslug.zip rom files to test
        The file location is correct: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-mame4all

            @SteffenMB For mame4all (037b5) your neogeo.zip should have the following files: neo-geo.rom, ng-sfix.rom, ng-sm1.rom
            and your mslug.zip should have: mslug_c1.rom, mslug_c2.rom, mslug_c3.rom, mslug_c4.rom, mslug_m1.rom, mslug_p1.rom, mslug_s1.rom, mslug_v1.rom, mslug_v2.rom and additionaly it could have the same files as neogeo.zip
            Hope this helps

              Thanks. I have googled a lot now, and there should be a neogeo.zip that works with the 037b5- mame roms. I've seen several post saying that they found one that works. Only problems is they don't say where they found it!

              I've downloaded and tried 3 versions now (only reason I know they are different is the file size), with no luck. One of the pages I've seen specifically talk about my 037b5-set and that you should get a neogeo.zip file which is 853kb. But I can't find it! Frustrating.

              Do you know if there is a place with several neogeo.zip-files/version? I seem to stumble across either the wrong ones or end up getting spammed on some strange websites.

                hmm, the neogeo.zip that came with my 037b5 set is 54KB (mslug.zip is 13.2MB) and works fine in mame4all-pi.

                the only way to really confirm you have the right set is via clrmamepro, i'm afraid.

                  Aaaaaand, BINGO!

                  Searched for a 54kb neogeo.zip, found one, put it in the folder - and it now Metal Slug works!

                  If anyone has the same issue - or finds this thread - I won't do the mistake of not linking to it. I found it here:

                      @herb_fargus Oh, sorry, I thought the neogeo bios was okay, but I see that it is not. My mistake.
