Mid-century style RetroPie table
-
Looks like I'm the first to post on the shiny new site! I confess I already posted this to Reddit a few days ago, but hopefully this gets the ball rolling on this new forum.
Anyway, fearful of the rest of the household, I made a rather understated, stealth, gaming table that looks like:
But then it looks like:
I will confess I've been doing woodwork as a hobby for a while - there are some glitches on close inspection, but overall it is working well.
Total cost - not including Pi/Speakers/Monitor, which I had knocking about, was about £250-300 for controls/wood/cables/screws/etc.

I won't let it go without saying that the most important component is, of course, RetroPie - amazing work, many thanks!

holy moly! That's an awesome piece of work! I love the mid-century stealth transformer look.

Wow this is some thing i would die for! very nice.

I do some woodworking on the side as well, and when I saw your first picture, my first thought was:
"No don't butcher this like its some kind of IKEA thing!"But then I saw picture 2, and my jaw dropped.
That is just superb!
Nicely done, high Spouse Acceptance Factor, great 60s look, what could you want more? Now I am ashamed to show my meagre work on a bar-top...

Now I am ashamed to show my meagre work on a bar-top...TBH part of me would rather have had a bar-top :) More fun - but as well as stated acceptance factor my house is relatively small and something so single minded would be hard to place.
Look forward to seeing yours!

@mw BEAUTIFUL!!!

Wow thats a thing of beauty and fantastic craftsmanship. Very nice indeed.
What made you go for 4 buttons... not a fight game fan?
-
@thestraymongrel I'd say it was to keep with the era. Fighting games weren't popular circa 1960... Joke. It's a lovely piece of furniture, regardless.

Looks real nice. ☺

Now that is just about what I want to do myself. Trouble is I am pretty rubbish at woodwork. Still given me an idea, to maybe incorporate folding chairs too. A kind of Retropie Arcade Picnic Bench....now where did I put that 2 by 4, hammer and nails :)
